Writer, professor, personal historian for hire
In 2026 I will launch my Collins Story Exchange, a business that involves researching and writing individual’s stories as part of a legacy publication for their families, businesses or communities. It will be more sophisticated than StoryCorps and clients will walk away with copies of a print publication their families can keep for generations. I expect to open my doors for business in April 2026 at a studio at the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) in Farmington, CT. I’ll also offer writing workshops year-round through FVAC as well as my Book Doctor skills for authors working on book proposals.
I continue my own work as a writer and book project leader. In 2026 Custom Museum Printing will release a project I spearheaded to celebrate one of America’s most acclaimed landscape artists, SHARON YATES: In the Fields of Maine, with a forward by acclaimed art reviewer Carl Little. The Modern Language Association (MLA), will publish my peer-reviewed essay, “Lessons in Listening: Personal Essay as Model for Improving Public Discourse,” in the collection, Teaching the American Essay. I am also currently at work on a genre-bending book that involves narratives and imagined conversations with my logging relatives from Maine and other ancestors, tentatively titled, JAMMED: Talking With the Dead When You Can’t Agree With the Living.
